Personal Video

After responding to Don Tapscott's video, i began brainstorming about what I would like to include in my personal video for the topic "Collective Sharing". I currently have many ideas but did not finalize what precisely will be included.

Names on the Wiki

Today I sorted out all of our names and added a hyperlink to their ning profiles. But only to the ones I was able to find. Unfortunately, I was not able to find many so I created a new discussion about the names and asked them to do it themselves.

Mrs. Lindsay asked us to pick one of the 6 different topics and research about them. For example, by gathering 6 useful websites that relate to that topic. The topic I chose to research about is Mobile Broadband, the reason I chose this topic was because I have a major interest in mobile phones and their developments worldwide. I witnessed the first camera phone, then with two cameras and now touch screen. Thus, I will expand my knowledge on mobile broadband that has recently developed and its popularity continues escalating.
Basically, mobile broadband provides internet access for mobile devices such as laptops, Blackberrys and Smartphones. One new example of a device that has Mobile Broadband is the iPhone. While researching about mobile broadband, I came across something very interesting, which was an article about Qtel launching the Mobile Broadband service. This shows that it is already being used in other parts of the world and has no arrived to Qatar to provide the people with the same service.
Of course, while researching, I tagged many of the websites to my delicious account so that I can easily access them in the future.

Horizon Project 2008

Today I became a member in the Horizon Project 2008, a networking space for teachers and students. I uploaded an image of a pearl that's in the corniche, because in arabic, a pearl means my name-Dana. Once I joined the website, I also became apart of the Qatar Academy group where we will start introducing ourselves and entering discussions.

The World 2020

We began our I.T class today by watching an extremely interesting video done by Karl Fisch, named 2020 vision. The video is about Karl Fisch making predictions of what will happen to the world each year between 2007 to 2020. The video included things about the olpc and that gradually, all students will have a laptop. Also, the price of the laptop will drop and become free. What was also really interesting is that Karl focussed on Google and what will they do, one of his visions was that Google would buy Apple and then create two new softwares: iMagine and eyeMagine. After school today I am hoping to brainstorm and find out what Doha, Qatar would look like in year 2020.

Last lesson, Monday 26th february, I was absent and therefore I missed important things. In this lesson, to catch up I created my account on Evoca. However, Mrs. Lindsay isn't here to help me and my classmates are quite confused themselves. Instead of getting myself all confused and worked up, I'm just going to investigate the program Audacity until Mrs. Lindsay returns.

In class today, Mrs. Lindsay and us had a very interesting discussion about Mobile Broadband. We then researched and looked for websites that talk about Mobile Broadband...I found some very interesting ones such as: How to blog using your phone and how Q-tel has localy launched Mobile Broadband. I tagged all these websited using delicious so that I wouldn't lose them. Unfortunately, when I got home from school today I faced difficulties trying to access my delicious account, so that I can tag more websites/
